I was born on April 23, 1928. I started singing in my crib at the age of two. I became the most popular and famous child star of all time. I could act, dance and sing and got my start in the movies at the age of three. Fans loved me because I was bright, bouncy and cheerful. My mom always put 56 curls on my head for each and every movie and she would tell me “Sparkle, Shirley, Sparkle!” I was supposed to play Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. but my movie company didn’t want to lend me to the other movie company so Judy Garland got to do it instead. “I stopped believing in Santa Clause when I was six. Mother took me to see him in a department store and he asked me for my autograph. Also when I was six years old, I was the youngest person ever to receive an Oscar. I received four awards for my acting. I presented Walt Disney with his special academy award for snow white and the seven dwarfs. It was a regular sized Oscar with seven little Oscars on it. On the good ship lollipop Its a sweet trip to a candy shop.
I sing that last part.
My Mom and Grandma and teacher said I did really good and they could understand every word. I made them smile and laugh about the Santa Clause part.
Mom put 28 curlers in my hair last night. that is half of Shirleys 56.
